ur·ban /ˈərbən/

  • In, relating to, or characteristic of a city or town.
  • An urban area is characterized by higher population density and vast human features in comparison to areas surrounding it.

My entry for this week challenge is…

My hometown. The land of promise and the land of the brave. The City of Davao or in Filipino  ”Lungsod ng Dabaw”  is the most peaceful, safest and cleanest city in the Philippines. Davao is 3 times larger than Metro Manila and 7 times larger than Cebu. With over 240,000 hectares of land area, Davao City is the largest city in the Philippines in terms of acreage.

Davao City, Philippines

Davao City  is  known for a lot of things. It is the Orchid Capital of the Philippines, the Fruit Basket of the Philippines and the City in Bloom.  The Philippine Eagle also known as Monkey-Eating Eagle is  found in this city. Davao is the home of a lot of gardens, plantations and a wide variety of flowers. The most famous flower found in abundance in the city is Waling-waling or Vanda Sanderana, a type of orchid.

Davao City has plenty of amazing beaches and mountain resorts, and is close to diving spots and the highest peak in the Philippines, Mt. Apo. It was awarded by the Department of Tourism as the “Most Livable City” in the Philippines in 2008. This city is a typhoon free and is also known as a Durian City of the Philippines. If you missed my previous post about Durian fruit click  here.

The other reasons why people like to choose Davao as a good place to live or visit  is because of the quality of life that we have here. The city is extremely urbanized and yet satisfyingly simple in lifestyle, so it retains the best of both worlds. Davaoeño, a dialectal variant of Cebuano, is the major spoken language in the city, while the Tagalog itself comes a distant second. English is the medium of instruction in schools and is widely understood and spoken especially in the field of business and for all official documents. Bistaglish, an informal mixing of the above languages, is spoken as well. My hometown was, and remains a peaceful and beautiful town and I am proud to say ” Davaoeña ko bai.

Post rules

Answer the questions set for you in their post

Then it’s your turn to “tag” 11 people with a link to your post

Let them know they’ve been tagged

Create 11 new questions or use the same ones to ask the people you’ve tagged.

So the following are the questions  was asked by Penny along with my answers.

  1. Who do you think is the greatest human that ever lived? Well for me, Jesus Christ is the greatest human that ever lived. He died to save us from sin. Nobody does that except Him. Who do you think will crucify himself/herself  just to save you?
  2. If you could live anywhere else, where would it be? I would want to live in Davao. As what I’ve said to my previous post ‘’Davao City is the place I called my second home.’’
  3. What is your favorite song? There’s a lot! But  ”Right Here Waiting” is my favorite song in the world, mainly because it’s lyrics are too HONEST and MEANINGFUL 😉
  4. Would you prefer a dog or a cat as a pet? I think dogs are the most amazing pet; they give unconditional love and they are always there to protect you. For me they are the role model for being alive.
  5.  If you could have any one wish come true what would it be?  I have so so many wish, Right now I wish not only  for myself but for everybody  reading this. ‘’I hope that the days come easy and the moments pass slow, And each road leads you where you want to go, And if you’re faced with a choice, and you have to choose, I hope you choose the one that means the most to you. And if one door opens to another door closed, I hope you keep on walkin’ till you find the window, If it’s cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile, But more than anything, more than anything, My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small.’’- taken from My Wish lyrics by Rascal Flatts
  6. And why? Because all of us deserves to be HAPPY!
  7. Do you prefer hot or cold weather? I prefer to have a tropical weather. Just like what we have in the Philippines.
  8. Why do you blog? Blogging  is an easy solution for an online journal or diary. Sharing thoughts, ideas and travels are a breeze with your own blog. Documenting difficult or satisfying experiences, whether for you or to share with others, can be managed with ease on a blog. Therefore, blogging is  an easy way to express yourself.
  9. Do you live in the city or the countryside? Right now I live in the countryside quite big but a  peaceful city to live.
  10. Would people consider you a happy person? I really don’t know if people will consider me as a happy person. Me seeing myself, Yes! I do consider myself as a happy person. Failures and problems do come but we should know how to handle it. We should not  let sadness prevail in our emotions because it is not good for our health.
  11. Do you think you are a good person? Only God can tell that. I don’t want to assume that I am a good person because people do make mistakes. I’m trying to be a good person or to be a better kind of being in God’s eye.

Day 5 – Picture of your favorite city

Davao has always been my favorite place to live. Yes! I left half of my heart  in Davao City.

God’s Exquisite Creation

As I take a trip  through life, I am constantly astound at the great beauty God has created.

From the majestic trees,
                                                              Waxahachie Tx
and  to a single blade of grass.
                                                                  Red Oak,Tx
From the complexity of a flowers, glistening in the morning dew.
                                                                Beautiful White Roses
a delicate rose to the fantastic human body itself.
                                                                    Red Rose

Look to the sky and see the clouds. High and mighty they stand, soft and silently they go by. Always changing, always moving and always beautiful.

Look to the powerful waves of the ocean as they crash heavily onto the shore.
Powerful Waves
Look to the heavens and see the moon and the stars at night.
Pointing my finger to the moon
See the cloud of gas, the sun, the planets. Even though they are so far away, when we see them, how can we help but see their beauty?

Look to your own body. Each one is exceptional and yet they are all the same. How much oeuvre, sculptures and photos do we bestow to this frail form.

Thankful to God♀
As I behold the beauty of His creation, I cannot help but to praise Him. I cannot help but bow my head and humbly thank Him, thank Him that He acknowledge me to be part of His great creation. I thank Him everyday for this amazing world He gave us. I love exploring out into nature; feeling the breeze, hiking in it, swimming in it, and just generally enjoying it. God is the ultimate artist and His art is all around us; in the trees, the stars, the clouds, the sunsets, the list is infinite. Thank you once again Heavenly Father!
